01 · Analytics
High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is the primary purity assay for peptide reference materials. A reverse-phase column separates the peptide from its synthesis-related impurities, and a UV detector at 220 nm reports each species by peak area.

02 · Analytics
Mass spectrometry (LC-MS or MALDI-TOF) provides identity confirmation. The observed monoisotopic or average mass of the parent ion must fall within instrument-appropriate tolerance of the theoretical mass calculated from the peptide sequence.
For a peptide of average mass 4113.58 g/mol (e.g., Semaglutide), a modern LC-MS instrument routinely reports the observed mass to within ± 0.5 Da. Any greater deviation is grounds for lot rejection.
03 · Handling
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptide reference standards are shelf-stable at –20 °C for the labelled shelf life, typically 24 months. Short-term storage at 2–8 °C is acceptable for material actively in use. Peptides should be brought to room temperature in the sealed vial before opening to minimize condensation on the powder.
Once reconstituted in an aqueous vehicle, peptides are significantly less stable and should be aliquoted immediately to minimize freeze-thaw cycles. For most sequences, refrigerated storage of the reconstituted aliquot is appropriate for a few days; longer-term storage requires freezing at –20 °C or lower.
Insulated shipping. Peridyn ships cold-sensitive lots in an insulated mailer with pre-conditioned ice packs, sized for the expected 2–3 day transit window. Lyophilized peptides tolerate standard transit windows at ambient temperature without loss of purity.
04 · Handling
Reconstitution of a lyophilized peptide is a laboratory technique. The choice of vehicle depends on the intended in-vitro assay: dilute acetic acid for hydrophobic sequences, phosphate-buffered saline for many soluble peptides, or bacteriostatic water for extended in-vitro storage. Peridyn stocks each of these as separately-purchased laboratory reagents.

05 · Documentation
A useful COA answers seven questions about a specific lot:
The seventh question is where many suppliers fall short. Peridyn's COAs name the third-party laboratory of record on the face of the document, along with the analyst signature date and the release date. Anonymous "verified by our lab" claims are worthless — the point of independent testing is that a named third party stakes their reputation on the result.
Red flags on a COA. If a supplier's COAs share stock chromatograms across multiple lots, cite an ISO revision that has been superseded (ISO 9001:2008 was retired in 2015; the current version is 9001:2015), omit the testing laboratory's name, or provide only a summary table without the underlying instrument output, the COA is documentation theater.
06 · Reference
Lyophilized. Freeze-dried under vacuum. Removes water without denaturing most peptides.
Purity (HPLC). Main-peak area as a percentage of total UV-active peaks at 220 nm.
Identity (MS). Observed molecular mass matches the theoretical mass from the sequence.
USP <71>. Sterility test — 14-to-28-day culture in aerobic and anaerobic media.
USP <85>. Bacterial endotoxin test — Limulus amebocyte lysate assay, reported in EU / mg.
USP <232> / <233>. Elemental impurities specification and analytical method (ICP-MS).
Karl Fischer. Coulometric titration for water content in solids and liquids.
CAS number. Chemical Abstracts Service registry number — a globally unique identifier for a chemical compound.
